Howard A. Rosenblum

Commissioner Rosenblum has been a disability rights attorney for over 32 years. Prior to his appointment to the Illinois Human Rights Commission, he has dedicated his career to advancing the rights of people with disabilities. He recently founded and serves as the Chair of a nonprofit organization, Deaf Equality, which focuses on promoting equality for Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing, and Late Deafened people. For 13 years, he served as the CEO and Director of Legal Services for the National Association of the Deaf, through which he was instrumental in significant precedential cases that increased access for deaf and hard of hearing people. Previously, he worked nine years as a Senior Attorney at Equip for Equality. He also serves as a volunteer legal advisor for the World Federation of the Deaf. Rosenblum earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor from IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law.
